Therapeutic Parenting Support in Bromley

What is Non-Violent Resistance (NVR)?

Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) is a highly effective approach for parents and carers who are experiencing challenging behaviours in their children. At The Lifespan Practice, we use NVR to support families in Bromley and the surrounding areas in responding to aggressive, controlling, or destructive behaviours—both verbal and physical—by focusing on de-escalation, connection, and strengthening supportive networks.

As NVR‑informed practitioners, we work alongside parents to develop practical strategies that reduce conflict and increase a sense of parental presence. We also help families understand the underlying needs or experiences that may be driving a child’s behaviour.

NVR can be especially powerful for families of neurodiverse children or those who have experienced trauma, providing a compassionate and structured framework to support positive change and strengthen family relationships. We also offer specialist support for adoptive families and those caring for children under Special Guardianship Orders.
