Adoption is a lifelong journey, and the thoughts, feelings and questions connected to it can emerge at different points throughout adolescence and adulthood. At The Lifespan Practice, we provide specialist therapeutic support for adopted young people and adults who may wish to explore issues relating to identity, belonging, relationships, loss, grief, contact with birth family members or the impact of early experiences.
We offer a warm, confidential and non-judgemental space where individuals can reflect on their personal story, make sense of complex emotions and develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships. Our attachment-informed and trauma-aware approach recognises both the challenges and the strengths that can be part of the adoption experience, supporting individuals to navigate life transitions, strengthen resilience and enhance emotional wellbeing.
Where appropriate, we also offer Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, which can be an effective way of processing traumatic experiences, reducing the impact of distressing memories and supporting healing and long-term psychological wellbeing.
Thank you for considering reaching out to The Lifespan Practice. Taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting, and we're here to make that process as comfortable as possible.
We offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation to discuss your needs and answer any questions you might have about therapy. This initial conversation helps us both ensure we're the right therapist for you or your family. Making that first contact can feel daunting, but we're here to make the process as comfortable as possible.
Whether you have questions about therapy or would like to arrange an initial consultation, we welcome your contact.
